Thomas Lee Herbert, 66, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at his home. Funeral services for Thomas Herbert will be 10:30 am Saturday at the Bethel Baptist Church, 1206 Cedar Street, Iowa Falls, Iowa. A time of Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday evening at Linn’s Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls. Burial will be at the Northlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa Falls, with military honors by Hyman-Peavey American Legion Post # 188, Iowa Falls. The Linn’s Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Thomas Lee Herbert was born December 10, 1946, at Baraboo, Wisconsin, the son of Faye and Evelyn [Spohr] Herbert. He graduated the Iowa Falls High School with the class of 1966. He served with the United States Army from October 10, 1966 to October 9, 1969, receiving the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 bronze stars and the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 overseas service bars. He had been married to Nancy Middlestat for a period of time. He worked primarily at Prestressed Concrete of Iowa Falls.
Thomas Lee Herbert is survived by his mother: Evelyn Herbert of Iowa Falls; two sons: Thomas ‘Shane’ Herbert and Daniel Herbert two sisters: Sandra Grimm of Des Moines, Iowa, Susan Hansen of Dexter, Iowa; nephews David Decker, Donald O’Neal; and Grand nieces and nephews: Dustin Decker, Broderick Decker, Danielle Decker, Elijah O’Neal, Heath O’Neal, and Gage O’Neal. He was preceded in death by his father: Faye Herbert; and a brother: Ronald Herbert.
