Glade Elson Heichel, 77, of Clarksville, died January 22, 2013, at his residence .
A memorial service will be held in the Spring.

Glade was born on February 5, 1935, in Cedar Falls, the youngest of 10 children blessed to Freace and Dagmar (Rassmussen) Heichel. George and Myrtle Shorman were like his parents, he loved them very much. Their child, Virginia became his sister. He received his education in public school graduating from Greene High School in 1953. Glade attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, on an Athletic Scholarship, graduating in 1957.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Greene where he was baptized in 1952.

In 1949 Glade moved to Greene after his mother died and his father remarried. He was a good athlete, especially in track and football. He also enjoyed racing hydro plane boats and loved the competition, he won many races. His mentor, George Shorman, was responsible for this sport.
Glade loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He kept track of how many deer he had gotten. Because of his love for the outdoors, he took up taxidermy, he was schooled via the mail. Glade always had a smile for his many friends.

Glade is survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and all his brothers and sisters.
