William R. “Bill” Harang, age 53, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at his home in rural Lake Mills.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, March 18, 2013, at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street in Lake Mills, with Pastor David Schreiber officiating. Burial will be in Salem Memorial Cemetery, rural Lake Mills.

Visitation will be on Sunday, March 17, 2013, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills, and will continue one hour before the service time on Monday.

William Richard Harang was born on October 16, 1959, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to parents Richard and Joan (Bly) Harang. He attended and graduated from Lake Mills Community School in 1978. Bill attended NIACC, where he received his AA degree in 1983.

Bill worked at Streeters in Albert Lea for 20 years, and helped his father Richard farm for several years.

He enjoyed golfing, playing pool, and liked to watch all sports. His favorite teams being the Dallas Cowboys and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Bill was married to Sherri Loberg on November 23, 1985, and to this union, their son William (Wiley) Benjamin Harang was born. The couple later divorced.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son and the joy of Bill’s life, Wiley Harang; his mother, Joan Harang of Lake Mills, IA; three siblings, sister Peggy (Alan) Palmer of Northwood, IA, brother Tracy Harang of Lake Mills, IA, and sister Christina (Timothy) Kockler and children, Chloé, Caitlin, and Cole Kockler of St. George, UT; and his nieces and nephews, Monica (Chris) Heino and their children Selah and Hudson of Minneapolis, MN, Samantha (Lonnie) Davis and their daughters MacKenzie and Madilynn of Northwood, IA, and Blake (fiancée Lynn Hunt) Palmer of Superior, WI. Bill is also survived by many other extended relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Richard, a brother John, his grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.
