MASON CITY | Vivian M. Haines, 90, of Mason City, died Wednesday Nov. 13, 2013, at Good Shepherd Health Center, Mason City. Cremation services have been followed per her wishes. No funeral service is planned at this time. An inurnment will be held at a later date by the family.

Vivian M. Haines, the daughter of Gilbert and Esther (Nelson) Granberg, was born Sept. 27, 1923, in Afton, Minn. She graduated high school in Stillwater, Minn., and went on to attend the community college in Iowa City, earning her certificate as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Vivian was united in marriage to William Haines in 1943, in Hernandez, Miss. Together they raised three sons. Vivian worked for Iowa Southern Utilities in Winfield, Iowa, Autumn Park Apartments in Iowa City, and then transferred to Mason City with Autumn Park when a position opened up.

Vivian enjoyed traveling and being around people. She was also a charter member of the VFW in Winfield, Iowa.

She is survived by her three sons, Lynn (Sylvia) Haines, Fort Mill, N.C., Lee (Darlene) Haines, Mason City, and Tim Haines, Jonesborough, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, and her sister Viliss Kallstrom.

She was preceded in death by her parents Gilbert and Esther (Nelson) Granberg, and nephew Gary Kallstrom.
