Merlin Stock, 77, of Charles City, died Sunday, June 29, 2014, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Funeral services for Merlin Stock will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastor Dennis Niezwaag will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and at the church an hour prior to the service.

Merlin Frederick Stock was born August 25, 1936, at Floyd, the son of Henry and Christina (Scheidecker) Stock. He graduated from Floyd Consolidated School. On May 10, 1955, he was united in marriage to Cheryl DeBoest at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. They farmed all of their lives near Charles City. He was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Merlin was an outdoorsman who enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing. He also looked forward to spending time with his family, taking special interest in the grandchildren.

Living family members include three sons, Robert Stock of Charles City, Ryan (Cindy) Stock of Cedar Rapids and Colin (Stephanie) Stock of Charles City; five grandchildren; sister, Jean Vance of Floyd; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cheryl on September 23, 2010; son, Brad Stock; and sister, Shirley Schultz.
