CLEAR LAKE | Edna Doris Lorette Hollatz Albers, 100, of Clear Lake, died Friday afternoon, Sept. 12, 2014, at Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2405 260th Street, Garner, with the Rev. Carl Hedberg officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.Visitation, with viewing, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 North Fourth St., Clear Lake.Memorials may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Garner, in memory of Edna.Edna, daughter of Henry and Bertha (Bohn) Hollatz, was born in Hancock County on April 12, 1914, at the Hollatz home near Garner. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church and attended parochial school at St. Johns.On Feb. 19, 1939, Edna married Lubbe Albers of Klemme at St. John’s Lutheran Church. They were married for 62 years until Lubbe’s death in June 2001.Edna and Lubbe farmed until 1974 when they retired to Clear Lake. Edna enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, embroidery, crafts, fishing, and games. She was a member of the Union Dozen Club for many years. She celebrated her 100th birthday in April with family and friends.Survivors include her daughter Phyllis and son-in-law Jim, of Papillion, Nebraska; two granddaughters, Linda McConley and husband Steve of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Lesli Clark and husband Bill of Urbandale, Iowa; and six great-grandchildren: Jack, Matt, and Kate McConley and Manda, Sydney, and Kelsey Clark. Other survivors include her sisters, Ethel Schoenwetter of Klemme, Helen Harms of Clear Lake, Stella Lemke of Mason City, and Ardith Toppin (Wayne) of Clear Lake; along with many nieces and nephews.Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Lubbe; three brothers, Ellsworth, Wilbur, and Melvin; and three sisters, Alma Reed, Edith Poohl, and Pearl DeGroote.Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 North Fourth St., Clear Lake, 641-357-2193, ColonialChapels.com.
