LAKEWOOD, Ohio | JoAnn Margaret Heifner passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, in Lakewood, Ohio, at the age of 81.

A private memorial service for family members was held at her home. Cremation has taken place at the Carey Funeral Home, Cleveland, Ohio. A private burial will take place at a later date.

She was born on October 12, 1932 in Irvington Township, Kossuth County, Iowa. She grew up in Wesley, Iowa, and graduated from Wesley High School in 1951.

During her marriage, the family moved to several communities around the Midwest. While living in Sioux City, Iowa, she started JoAnn’s Sewing Service in 1970.

In 1992 she located to Humboldt, Iowa, to be near family.

She was a self-employed seamstress until she retired at the age of 79. She made custom draperies and window treatments for many businesses and homes in the Sioux City, Iowa, area. She enjoyed traveling to spend time with her children and grandchildren.

At JoAnn’s request, in lieu of flowers, please contribute to breast cancer research in honor of JoAnn Heifner.

She is survived by her sister, Maxine Noble of Britt, Iowa; her four children, Thomas Lee Heifner of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jacqueline Kay Busch of Anthon, Iowa, Robert Allen Heifner of Kansas City, Mo., and Lewis Anthony Heifner of Lakewood, Ohio. She has 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony John Seiler and Catherine Christine (Laux) Seiler; three brothers, James Seiler, LeRoy Seiler and John Seiler; one sister, Rose Mary Swaney; infant brother, Kenneth Seiler; and granddaughter Elizabeth Ann Heifner.
