Donald Glew, age 90 of Ackley, died on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Presbyterian Village in Ackley. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at the St. Peters UCC, rural Geneva with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 P.M. Tuesday at the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley.

Donald Stuart Glew, the son of Roy and Floy (Stuart) Glew was born at home on October 8, 1922 in Dubuque County. He was later joined by two brothers, Delbert and Merrill. Don attended Maynard School, graduating with the class of ~41. It was following graduation that he met his love of his life, Dorothy, and they were married on June 14, 1945. Don managed Coops in Maynard and Mt. Union before purchasing Faulkner Grain & Feed in March of 1962. Don sold out in 1975 but continued working as an Interim Manager for 15 years- both for private and Cooperatives. Don and Dorothy enjoyed many winters in Texas spending time with family and friends. Don loved to camp, fish, travel, fly and play music. Donald is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy; two daughters, Shawn (Raymond) Ibeling of Clinton, WI and Sharon (Dale) Walkup of Redding; 6 grandchildren, Kelly Ibeling, Amy (John Paul) Whittington, Craig (Bethany) Ibeling, Ann (Darin) Schlapia, Kyle Ibeling (special friend, Ashley) and James Walkup; 6 great-grandchildren, Alaina, Owen, Hope, Daniel, Adrian, and Joy; two sisters-in-law, Norma Glew and Charlotte Glew and many nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Delbert and Merrill Glew.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the loving care Don received in the New Horizon wing of the Presbyterian Village. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Don to be designated at a later date.
