CLEAR LAKE | John Polyard, a resident of Clear Lake, died peacefully in his sleep at his home on Oct. 31.

John, a native of Mankato, Minn., is a graduate of Mankato West High School and Mankato State University. He was the first person in his family to graduate from college. John was a skillful salesman and business man. He most recently was an energy consultant to small businesses and through his work traveled extensively throughout Iowa and Minnesota. Through most of his life he was haunted by the genetic ghosts of addiction but in recent years overcame the chemicals and became a football junkie.

He is survived by his father Louis Polyard of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., his brother Dave, sister-in-law Shirley Brice, niece Jane Polyard all of Superior, Colorado, and a nephew George Polyard of Las Vegas, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his mother Gelene Polyard.

A memorial service will be held 9:30 a.m. this Thursday, Nov. 14, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapels, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City.
