TULSA, Okla. — Lawrence Charles Pitkin, a resident of Owasso, Okla., died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 in Tulsa. He was born Sept. 3, 1926, in Garner, Iowa.

Before moving to Owasso in 2003, Lawrence was a farmer in Winnebago County for over 60 years, where he was very active in the Baptist Church. Lawrence has been married to his loving wife Lorraine for 62 years and is survived by Lorraine, their three children and five grandchildren: daughter Jackie Allison and her husband Gary of Fort Myers, Fla.; son Jerald Pitkin, his wife Heather and their children Paige and Drake of Naples, Fla.; Jerald’s son Tyler of Oakland, Calif.; and son Jeffrey Pitkin, his wife Thriscilla and their children Natalie and Luke of Owasso, Okla. Lawrence is also survived by one sister, Darlene Kadolph of California.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Emma Pitkin, two brothers Bob and Dale Pitkin, and three sisters, Marilyn Pitkin, Doris Thompson and Lucille Wyma.

Since moving to Owasso, Lawrence has been a member of First Baptist Owasso. Lawrence always gave people the benefit of the doubt, had a heart for giving, and inspired people to be their best. His ever-present optimism was a reflection of his faith that God has everything under control. Lawrence will be missed by his many friends and family.

Memorial services for Lawrence were held on Friday, Jan. 11, at 3 p.m. at Mowery Funeral Service, 9110 North Garnett Road, Owasso, OK 74055, with Chaplain Steve Williams of the Owasso Baptist Village officiating. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to New Tribes Missions, 1000 E. First St., Sanford, FL 32771.
