MASON CITY | Elaine Helen Phillips, 94, of Mason City, died peacefully on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given in Elaine~s name to the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, 232 Second St. S.E., Mason City, IA 50401. Elaine was born Oct 16, 1919, to Michael and Mary (Dietrich) Laskewick in Mason City. She married her husband Harold Phillips on April 9, 1939. Elaine owned and operated Elaine~s Beauty Salon for 40 years. She was a member of St. John~s Episcopal Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a member of Eastern Star. Elaine and Harold loved traveling and especially enjoyed trips to Europe.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Michael Laskewick, her brother, Jake Laskewick, and the love of her life Harold L. Phillips.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Nancy Phillips O~Fallon (Tom), Plano, Texas, and her son Michael Phillips, Plano, Texas, her grandchildren Phoebe Phillips Chenoweth, Plano, Texas, Marcy May Duckworth, West Palm Beach, Fla., Michael William Phillips, Chelmsford, Mass., Kari Lynn Phillips, North Oaks, Minn., and great-grandchildren Morgan, Madison and Mia Chenoweth, Trace and Mary Elaina Duckworth, Kayleigh and Gregory Phillips. We would also like to thank her very good friends and care takers, Terry Arrend, Carol and Dwight Miller and Shirley Otten for their love and support over the past years. “Some people come into our lives and quietly go. Others stay for a while and leave foot prints on our hearts and we are never the same.”
