MASON CITY | Morrie L. Mahler, 63, of Mason City, died Monday (Nov. 11, 2013) at Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, with Michael Libbie, Spiritural Leader of Adas Israel Synagogue, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services, Friday at the funeral chapel.

Memorials may be given to the Betterment Fund at Adas Israel Synagogue, P.O. Box 676, Mason City, Iowa 50402-676.

Moritz (Morrie) Ludwig Mahler was born Nov. 8, 1950, at Mason City, the son of Nick and Berniece (Goldberg) Mahler.

Morrie was a 1969 graduate of Mason City High School. He attended NIACC. Morrie held jobs at the U.S. Post Office, Jet Stream Plastic, American Crystal Sugar, Zeidler Concrete and the Globe Gazette.

He enjoyed reading, music, watching television, walking at the YMCA, visiting the public library, playing cards, bowling and dining out with friends. He volunteered at the Animal Shelter and Community Kitchen.

He was a lifelong member of Adas Israel Synagogue, Mason City.

He is survived by his Transition Center family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Berniece.
