CLEAR LAKE — Shirley Marie Loux, 90, 108 Wedgewood Drive, Clear Lake, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at the Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa, Mason City.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, Iowa, with Rev. Dennis Ganz officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. and one hour preceding the service at Ward-Van Slyke. Interment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Shirley Marie Loux Memorial Fund.
Shirley was born Oct. 3, 1922, in rural Wright County near Woolstock, Iowa, the daughter of Rolla E. and Marie (Hilpipre) Lindsey. She attended rural schools there.
Shirley married Lloyd Loux, July 14, 1940, in Woolstock. They farmed in the Woolstock and Garner area. They had two children, Dennis and Diane. She worked at the Concord Care Center as a dietician for many years. They moved to Clear Lake in 1991.
Shirley really enjoyed working. She loved playing cards and “winning.” Her favorite hobby was “thrifting” and going to thrift stores around the area. They wintered in Arizona for more than 20 years. In 2009 she moved to her son and daughter-in-law’s where they have had many enjoyable card games.
Shirley is survived by her two children: Dennis (Virginia “Tootie”) Loux, Clear Lake, and Diane (Willard) Netland, Mesa, Aria.; six grandchildren: Valerie (John) Burtness, Clear Lake, Vonnie (Scott) Amosson, Clear Lake, Dino (Dawn) Loux, Clear Lake, Jeanne (Jerry Hanson) Helling, Dubuque, Jodi (Ron) Claydon, Mesa, Ariz., and Tammy (Kris) Burckhard, Mesa, Ariz.; 14 great-grandchildren: Whitney and Colby Dye, Chase and Cameron Burtness, Jade and Myah Loux, Dustin and Tyler Claydon, Kameron Burckhard, Lisa and Nick Kies, Cody and Rebecca Wolter and Carter Hanson; three great-great grandchildren: Kinsey Andregg and Colton and Marinda Kies; one sister, Nadine Rapp, Clarion; and many nieces and nephews and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd (Sept 2, 2004); and brother, Everett Lindsay Jr.
