BRITT — Mary L. Leuwerke-Trappe, 76, of Britt, Iowa, passed away Monday, August 5, 2013, at Westview Care Center in Britt.

Funeral services for Mary Leuwerke-Trappe will be held on Friday, August 9, at 10:30 a.m. at the Pilot Knob Lutheran Church, 2391 330th Street in Forest City with Reverend Robert Snitzer officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.

Visitation for Mary Leuwerke-Trappe will be held on Thursday, August 8, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West, in Britt, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Mary Lee Leuwerke-Trappe was born on January 19, 1937, to Elmer and Ruth (Larson) Johnson. She graduated from Britt High School in 1954.

Mary married Curtis Leuwerke in 1954, and to this union, 3 sons and 1 daughter were born. The family farmed in the Forest City area and she worked in the grocery store and bank in Lake Mills, and at the lampshade factory in Forest City. After Curt died in 1998, she met and married Elmer Trappe in 1998.

Mary is survived by her husband, Elmer Trappe; daughter Kathlene (Brian) Price, son Paul Leuwerke, and daughter-in-law Kathy Jo Leuwerke; sisters Sharlene Beenken and Jean Knapper; stepchildren Edward Trappe, Roger Trappe, Dennis Trappe, Victor Trappe, Linda Schreiber, Patricia Waters, Thomas Trappe; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren, and stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Curtis Leuwerke, children Greg Leuwerke and Danny Leuwerke, and brothers Denny Johnson and Walter Johnson.
