Orville Gene Krominga was born September 18, 1924, in Swea City, Iowa, the son of Amos and Pearl (Heifner) Krominga. He grew up near Titonka where he also attended school.

Orville entered the service on July 27, 1944. He served in the Phillipines earning a Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with two Bronze Battle Stars, Phillipines Liberation Ribbon with a Bronze Battle Star, three Overseas Service Bars and Army of Occupation Medal. He was very proud to be a veteran. In 2009, he traveled to Washington D.C. with the Honor Flight.

Orville was united in marriage to Dorothy Viola Hobbs on September 23, 1944 in Mineral Wells, Texas. They raised two sons Vaughn and Kent.

He worked for Standard Oil, McDonald International Dealership in Titonka and later owned and operated Beed Hardware and Appliance in Titonka. Orville enjoyed riding his motorcycle, hunting, fishing and shooting trap.

Orville passed away Friday, July 26, 2013, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. He was 88.

He is survived by his son, Kent and wife Roxie Krominga of Forest City; four granddaughters, Deanna and Jeff Brasch of Titonka; Regina and Tom Prentice of Ames; Marcie and Jason Lane and Katie and Dan Frerichs all of Titonka; 10 great-grandchildren, Jacob Prentice, Maya Prentice, Madison Lane, Taylor Heidt, Cassidy Heidt, Cedric Frerichs, Carson Frerichs, Landon Brasch, Jaden Lane and Cayn Frerichs; siblings, Betty Bosma of Buffalo Center; Donna Dunnavan of Rockford, Illinois; Roger and Mary Krominga of Sun City West, Arizona; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Vaughn Krominga; sister, Diane Abbas and brothers, Paul and Russell Krominga.
