Vern Kramer, 85, of Charles City, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.
Funeral services for Vern Kramer will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Hauser Funeral Home. Pastor Dennis Niezwaag of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens rural Charles City.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday an hour prior to the service.
Vern Wilbur Kramer was born August 22, 1927, in Butler County, the son of Peter and Verbena (Schrick) Kramer. He received his education from rural Butler County schools. On November 21, 1948, he was united in marriage to Fern Hibner at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Vern worked for many years at Oliver/White Farm Equipment Company and then for Midland Coop. He enjoyed playing and watching baseball, especially the Twins and Cubs. Family was very important to Vern and he took every opportunity to share life~s experiences with them. The family, especially the grandchildren, will always remember the rousing games of baseball, basketball and wrestling.
Living family members include his wife, Fern Kramer of Charles City; three children, Robert (Dixie) Kramer of Waterloo, Sandra (Troy) Powers of Saint Ansgar and Norma (Darwin) Sonberg of Orchard; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a great great grandson; four brothers, Melvin (Donna) Kramer of Clarksville, Treno (Agnes) Kramer of Plainfield, David (Alice) Kramer of Clarksville and Paul Kramer of Shell Rock; and two sisters, Sylvia Lumm of Charles City and Marjorie (Don) Reiher of Charles City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Peter and Donald Kramer.
