Clear Lake — Clyde L. Johnson Sr., 76, of Clear Lake, died Monday March 25, 2013 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 29, at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. Fourth Street, Clear Lake, with Pastor Dean Hess officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 28, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, Iowa.

Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Britt, Iowa, following lunch.

Clyde LeRoy Johnson, son of Clyde W. Johnson and Marcella M (Mulert) was born Dec. 10, 1936, in rural Britt. Clyde had two brothers Richard and James, and three sisters, Rose, Donna and Shirley.

Clyde graduated from Britt High School in 1954. He started working afterwardat various local service stations. After a couple years, Clyde started working for Armour, Mason City, which he retired from after 30 years of dedicated service.

In 1956 Clyde was united in marriage to Beatrice (Gallion). To this marriage were four children, Debra, Craig, Clyde Jr., and Kim. Clyde was later married to Shirley (Robertson), and to this marriage were two children, Jaquelyn and Duane. He later married Mrlyeen (Jones).

Clyde is remembered by his great sense of humor, willing to live and his stubbornness. He loved his grand and great grand children very much and enjoyed watching them grow up. He was active in sports, and enjoyed playing darts, bowling and was in pool league later in life. Clyde liked the outdoors as well, as would fish and hunt in spare time.

After Clyde retired, he dedicated another fourteen years to Opportunity Village, Clear Lake. He was involved in AA group for over 26 years and proved he had the will and determination to work through any struggles that came his way.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Marcella Johnson, infant daughter Debra Johnson, brother Richard Johnson and grandson Jeremy Johnson.

Those who are left to remember him are his brother James (Carolyn) Johnson, Des Moines, sisters Rose (Neal) Santee, Mason City, Donna (Larry) Cline, Mason City, Shirley (Ron) Ostendorf, Clear lake, and sister-in-law Dee Johnson. Children are Craig (Terri) Johnson, Nerstrand, Minn., Clyde Jr. (Bridget) Johnson, West Bend, Kimberly (Gene) Geopfert, Britt, Jacqueline Johnson, Hanibal, Mo. and Duane Johnson, Hanibal, Mo., as well as fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
