HANLONTOWN — Gladys Dorothy Field, 96, Hanlontown, died Friday, April 18, 2014, at the Manly Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Gladys had been at the Manly Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for the last six months.

A funeral service for Gladys will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Grace Lutheran Church, 302 East Fourth St., Hanlontown, with Pastor Linda Johnson Prestholt officiating.
Burial will be in the Brush Point Cemetery, rural Hanlontown. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time on Thursday at the church.

Those wishing to give a memorial in her memory, may wish to direct memorials to Grace Lutheran Church in Hanlontown.

Gladys Dorothy Field was born on Oct. 27, 1917, in Watford City, N.D., the daughter of Gust and Tomina (Kaasa) Olson. Gladys received her education in Lake Mills Community Schools, graduating from Lake Mills High School. She was united in marriage to Russell “Bud” Field on April 3, 1945, at the Lutheran Parsonage in Joice and to this union, two daughters were born, Karen Ann and Lonna Rae.

The family had resided in Hanlontown since 1947. Gladys worked in Lake Mills as a telephone operator and as the post office worker in Hanlontown for over 15 years before retiring in 1982.

She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hanlontown, a former member of Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, and was a member of the Betterment Club in Hanlontown.

Gladys is warmly remembered by her daughter, Lonna Rae Field of Hanlontown; her niece, Joan (Olson) Kloster of Lake Mills; brother-In-Law, and sister-in-law, Larry (Jan) Field of Coeur d~Alene, Id.; a sister-in-law, and brother-in-law, Beverly (Fred) Buel of Sacramento, Calif.; as well as other extended relatives and friends.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Karen Ann Field; her husband, Russell “Bud” Field, who died on Nov. 8, 2011; brother, Harvey Olson; and a nephew, Ron Olson.
