Hampton — Betty Jean (Heitland) Weaver, 85, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.
She was born Betty Jean Sims on April 16, 1927, in Mason City, to John H. and Maude E. (Cook) Sims. Betty graduated from Sheffield High School in 1945.
She was united in marriage to Clarence Heitland on June 27, 1948, in Sheffield; he preceded her in death. Betty then married Burt Weaver on June 3, 1983, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hampton; he also preceded her in death.
She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hampton, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School, was active in the Women’s circle and the Dorcas circle and helped make many quilts for world relief and for the River Side Bible Camp. Betty enjoyed dancing and playing bridge and 500.
She is survived by her brother, Donald Sims of Mason City, nieces and nephews Barbara (Roger) Krull, Kathy (Jack) Shea, Todd Becker, Tom Becker, Beth (Mike) Forbes, Nancy Sims, Keith Sims and Jane (Chad) Terry, fifteen great-nieces and nephews and six great-great-nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents John and Maude, son David, husbands Clarence and Burt, identical twin sister Beatrice Becker and sister-in-law Dolores Sims.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hampton, with the Rev. Steve Winsor officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., today, Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton.
Burial will take place in the Hampton Cemetery.
