Grafton — Maxine R. Walk, 85, of Grafton died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at the Manly Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A funeral service for Maxine will be held 1 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 6, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 308 Fourth Ave., Grafton with the Rev. Solveig A. H. Zamzow officiating. Burial will follow in the Grafton Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 5, at Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 E. Spring St., Manly and will continue one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Sunday.

Maxine Rose (Schultz) Walk, daughter of John and Rosie Schultz was born on a farm in Barton Township on March 27, 1927. The family moved when she was six to a farm two and a half miles west of Grafton. She attended country school and graduated from Grafton High School. Maxine furthered her education receiving her degree at Hamilton Business College and worked in Mason City for the North Iowa Hardware Association.

On June 5, 1949, she married Rueben Walk. They lived in Grafton, where they raised their three children.

Later, Maxine worked as a secretary at the Grafton School and as a bookkeeper for Grafton Plumbing and Electric.

She was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed collecting dolls and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be missed by her husband, Rueben Walk of Grafton; children, Cathy (Denny) Severson of Eagan, Minn., Curt Walk (Leanne Christeson) of Clear Lake and Craig (Joanne) Walk of St. Ansgar; nine grandchil-dren, nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn Sheahan of Sheffield and Bonnie (Wally) Brunsvold of Chatfield, Minn. and one sister-in-law, Thelma Walk of Eagan, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Clyde Schultz; six brothers-in-law, Ray, Orlie, LaVern and Ernie Walk, Sidney Homes, and Jack Sheahan and four sisters-in-law, Marcella, Helen and Phyllis Walk and Irene Homes.
