OSAGE — Leonard Arthur Thoresen, age 95, of Osage, died Sunday, September 1, 2013, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage with the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery with a flag presentation by Osage V.F.W. Post 7920.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Leonard was born October 23, 1917, in Kenyon, Minnesota, the son of Eli and Anna (Brown) Thoresen. He graduated from Orchard High School. Leonard served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On July 7, 1946, he married Beatrice Cressey at the Methodist Church in Austin. They farmed east of Osage. Leonard was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Osage V.F.W., and was a member and past president of Farm Bureau and the Mitchell County Fair Board.

Leonard is survived by his children, James Thoresen of Charles City, Susan (Michael) Roetman of Rock Rapids and their daughters, Jennifer and Jessica, Brian Thoresen of Osage, and Kenneth (Bethany) Thoresen of Spicewood, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beatrice in 2000; his son, Philip Thoresen in 2011; and brother, Howard Thoresen, in 2004.
