CHARLES CITY | Brian Guy Lauterbach, 55, of Charles City, died on a beautiful summer evening, Thursday, July 3, 2014, as the result of a bicycle/auto accident.

A funeral Mass for Brian Lauterbach will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Reverend Carl Ries will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday where there will be a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday at the church an hour prior to the Mass.

Brian was born September 13, 1958, in Charles City, the son of Peter and Leila (Nash) Lauterbach. He graduated from Rockford High School and North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City.

On August 10, 1985, he was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Blomeke. To this union was born their cherished daughter, Anna Leis.

Brian was deeply rooted in the family farm located near Marble Rock. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where he served in various capacities. Brian was an avid reader who especially enjoyed science fiction. He collected Allis Chalmers toy tractors. Brian loved to travel and tent camp, often spending Independence weekend with extended family “up north” on Lake Superior’s shores. He will be remembered as a gentle man with a heart bigger than his 6’8” stature.

Brian will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Barb, and treasured daughter Anna of Charles City; brothers, Edward Lauterbach of Marble Rock and John Lauterbach of Fort Worth, TX; in-laws, Glenn and Jeanie Blomeke, Brad (Suzy) Blomeke, Bruce Blomeke and Brenda (Paul) Zeug, all of Morgan, Minn.; and Mary Beth (Jeff) Carlson of Minneapolis, Minn.; and 14 nieces and nephews who knew their uncle as “Big Brian.”

He was preceded in death by his parents.
