Odegaard, David C. age 82 of Prior Lake passed away on April 12, 2013. Survived by wife Billie June; children Pamela (Steve) Strathman, Debra (Pat) Knaeble, Brent Odegaard and Jack (Joyce) Odegaard; grandchildren Mike, Ben, Ashley, Sam, Megan, Jayne, Max, Tom, Lindsay and Callie; brother Gerald (Avis) Odegaard; sister Geraldine Wick;
Dave was born on Dec. 14, 1930 in Sacred Heart MN. He was raised on a farm outside of Renville MN as the middle child of three by his parents Hans & Alma Odegaard. He spent his childhood working on neighboring farms and the local creamery.
Dave met the love of his life Billie June, at the local rollerink where their courtship led to a wedding in 1951 and 62 years of marriage.
He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean conflict where he wounded and received the Purple Heart. After earning the rank of sergeant and being honorably discharged he returned to his bride and started a life together in St Paul Minnesota.
While working for Armour Co, Dave’s family moved from St Paul to Chicago and finally landing in Mason City, Iowa. Dave’s sales career changed in 1981 when he went into business for himself & started selling business forms.
Their first born Pam was born in 1954, Debbie followed in 1955, Brent in 56 and lastly Jack in 1960.
Family life included vacations at the lake, fishing, snowmobiling, golfing, camping, boating… always boating. His passions included pheasant hunting, walleye fishing up north, and lowering his golf handicap. Whether boating, adventures in the motor home, or getaways at the park home, top of his list was spending time with his 10 grandchildren.
Dave was known for his captivating smile, his big heart & his sense of humor. He will be warmly remembered & dearly missed by his loving family on the way to his next adventure
Memorial Service 11AM Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at White Funeral Home, 12804 Nicollet Ave. S. Burnsville, MN. Gathering of family and friends one hour prior to service. Interment, Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
