Mason City — Helen Ruth Norris, 92, of Mason City, died peacefully on Sunday evening at Good Shepherd Health Center, April 7, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Kent Mechler, Chaplain, Good Shepherd Health Center.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, April 10, at the funeral home.

Interment will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

Memorials may be directed to the Helen R. Norris Memorial Fund in care of the family.

Helen Ruth Norris was born Sept. 14, 1920, to Herman and Laura (Koch) Hamann. She grew up near Luverne, Minn., and attended country school in rural Rock County.

Helen married Clyde H. Norris also of Luverne, on Nov. 16, 1942. Shortly after their marriage, the couple moved to a farm near Ocheydan. They moved to Sibley, Iowa, where they lived for more than twenty years. While in Sibley, Helen raised her two sons, was active in the ladies group at Trinity Lutheran Church and many friends. In 1970, Helen completed a long time desire when she received her GED. In 1980, Helen and Clyde moved to Spirit Lake, to enjoy many years together in retirement. While in retirement they enjoyed spending many winters in Texas. In 2003, Helen moved to Mason City, where she lived for ten years.

She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and sewing, gardening in her younger years and also dancing with her husband Clyde. She loved the time she spent with her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her two sons, Arlyn Norris and wife Wanda of Treynor, and Keith Norris and wife Mary Lou of Mason City; four grandchildren — Seth (Flordeliz), Aaron (Ashley), Rachel, Paul and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clyde on Sept. 24, 1999; brothers, Albert Hamann, Merle Hamann, Marvin Hamann, Richard Hagen and Leonard Hagen; two sisters, Florence Kennedy and Eleanor Loger.
