Obituary for Harlan Noble
Harlan Noble, 92, of Riceville passed away on Monday, March 11, 2013 surrounded by his family at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 15 at 10:30 AM at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Michael Parris officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Riceville, IA. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 – 7 PM at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville and one hour before services at the church.
Harlan was born February 5, 1921 on the family farm to Merwin and Ruth (Lappin) Noble. He was united in marriage to Nadine House on June 30, 1941. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Glendale, CA where Harlan worked at Lockheed-Vega Aircraft Company building airplanes. In 1943 they moved back to Iowa to farm. They moved to Riceville in 1985.
Harlan was active in the community and participated in many activities including: President and served on to Iowa to farm. They moved to Riceville in 1985.
Harlan was active in the community and participated in many activities including: President and served on the Rural Electric Association Board for 25 years; Chairman of Mitchell County 4-H Boys Committee; 4-H Boys Leader; Jenkins Township Farm Bureau Captain; member of Farm Service Board; President of North Iowa Quality Egg Products; Riceville City Council for 4 years, church trustee, deacon and treasurer; Riceville Kiwanis; and the Riceville Area Economic Development.
Harlan enjoyed watching all of his children’s and grandchildren’s school activities and sports on TV. He and Nadine enjoyed traveling in the United States and other countries. He started farming by driving horses and last year did fall tillage driving an auto steer GPS tractor. In 2012, he and Nadine celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary.
He is survived by his wife Nadine; Lee & Mary Ann Deutsche of Monee, IL; sons: Doug of Jefferson, SD, Robert (Jayne), and Tim (Sheryl) of Riceville; grandchildren: Monica (Tim) Sartori, Darren Deutsche, Amy Deutsche, Kyle (Kelly) Deutsche, Shantelle Noble, Trevor Noble, Andrea Adams (Jeff), Amanda (Bryce) Conway, Dustin Noble (Bethany), Mathew Noble (Meredith), Nicholas Noble (Kelli), Michelle Noble (Sawyer) and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers: Weston, Lowell (Dixie), Dale (Alice), and Joe; a sister, JoAnn Noble; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn S. Noble.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sharon; brother, Russell; a grandson, Lucas Noble; a great granddaughter, Marissa Sartori and sister-in-law, Evelyn L. Noble.
