Mason City — Marjorie Jean “Marge” Neibauer, 89, of Mason City, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, surrounded by her loving family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, at Epiphany Parish-Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Neil Manternach as celebrant. Burial will follow in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, May 14, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, where a scriptural wake service will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Should friends desire, memorials may be left in Marge’s name to Hospice of North Iowa.

Marjorie Jean Mileham was born Aug. 3, 1923, in Great Oak Township in Palo Alto County, the daughter of Walter H. Mileham and Minnie E. (Squires) Mileham. She graduated from Garfield Webb High School in Webb, Iowa, in the class of 1940. She played violin in the school orchestra and sang in glee club and mixed chorus. She also played softball and enjoyed plays. She later attended Business School in Des Moines and kept books for Gamble Store in Laurens and was a clerk in a grocery store.

On Sept. 12, 1945, she was united in marriage to Thomas F. Neibauer at Assumption Catholic Church in Emmetsburg, Iowa. The couple resided there for three years before moving to the Quad Cities and then Clear Lake and Mason City in 1951. Tom drove truck for his father’s trucking line and later for DX Oil Co., which was bought by Sun Oil Co., and became Sunoco Co. while he was employed there.

Marge was a mother, a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, good books, music, crossword puzzles, poetry and theater.

Marge and Tom had five children and they all attended Holy Family Catholic Grade School and Newman Catholic High School. Marge was a member of the St. Augustine circle and the Madonna Circle and treasurer of the Holy Family Guild for two years. She also helped with Girl Scouts and later had a large group of Cadet Scouts that she and an assistant took to Dubuque for their Marion Award, a Catholic badge of recognition of religious activities.

In 1972 she went to work for Damon’s Department Store for Christmas and stayed 14 years. She became the buyer, going to markets in Minneapolis and Chicago. She was also a department head and started the bridal registry in the store.

After her retirement, she gave her time to the funeral group, assisting with dinners for bereaved families.

Among those who will miss her are her five children and five grandchildren, Jean Neibauer, of Waterloo, Iowa, and her daughter, Anna Akbari, of New York, Liz (Bette) Neibauer, of Waterloo, Mary Anne (Karl) Jorgenson and their son Jonathan and daughter Meghan, of Salem, Ore., Thomas “T.J.” (Helen) Neibauer, of Kensett, and Bill Neibauer and his sons, Anthony and Nathan Neibauer, of Springfield, Mo.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Gereke; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom Neibauer; siblings, Floyd (Erma) Mileham, Ray (Lola) Mileham, Jewel (Oliver) Johnson, Homer (Nellie) Mileham, Merle Mileham, Marcille Mileham, Roy Mileham, Dorothea (Milton) Edleman, Herschel (Dorothy) Mileham, Lyle (Helen) Mileham, and Neva Rubel.
