GRAFTON — Gene Nack, age 76, of Grafton, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 8, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton with Pastor Solveig A.H. Zamzow officiating. Burial will be in the Grafton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage and will continue one hour before services at the church on Monday.

Gene was born Aug. 4, 1936, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Carl and Esther (Tesch) Nack. He attended country school and graduated from Grafton High School.

Gene married Frances Urbatsch on May 18, 1957, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton. To this union three children were born. Gene and Frances farmed together in the Grafton area. Frances passed away on Nov. 19, 1992.

On Aug. 20, 1998, he married Rose Marie Lewis at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Rock Township.

Gene served on the North Iowa Co-op Board and was an active lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Gene enjoyed farming and watching things grow. He also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, trips to Montana and spending time with family and friends.

Gene is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Nack of Grafton; his children, Brian (Gina) Nack of Grafton, Blair (Michelle) Nack of Square Butte, Mont., and Beth (Larry) Davidson of Des Moines; four grandchildren: Makae, Coya, Cassie and Kylynn Nack; three step-children; five step-grandchildren; sister, Marjorie Schroeder of Osage; brother-in-law, Darrold Walling of Lucan, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Frances Nack; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth (Lloyd) Beneke, Gertie (Herb) Kroneman, Alpha Walling; and brother-in-law, Robert Schroeder.
