Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 12, 2013 at Crown Hill Cemetery in Ruthven, IA.

Ron was born April 19, 1936, in Spencer, Iowa, to Marland and Minnie (Jones) Monselle. He attended school in Ruthven, Iowa. After graduation from high school, he attended college, graduating in 1958 from Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska.

Ron began his teaching career in 1958 in West Bend, Iowa, where he taught math, science, physical education, drivers training and coached girls basketball. In 1966, he began teaching in the Woden-Crystal Lake Schools. He taught math, science, drivers education and coached girls basketball and softball. There, he met and married Susan Gasner, of Owatonna, Minnesota. He remained at Woden-Crystal Lake Schools for 28 years, until his retirement in 1994.

Ron loved retirement. He had so many activities that he could pursue without time restraints. He hunted ducks, geese, coyotes and fox; not to mention deer. He dabbled in some trapping of muskrat and mink, and he went fishing for walleyes, crappies, and northerns. His biggest challenge was muskies, which he fished tirelessly in Minnesota and Canada. So many fish, so little time. Now he could do it all year long, and he did. Of course, the most fun was the anticipation of the hunt, and the extraordinary people who were in on the hunt – invaluable and lifetime friends who enriched his life and memories.

Even though his illness left him weakened and in pain, he tackled each day with a spirit that should be emulated. Well done.

Ron is survived by his wife, Susan; his brother, David Monselle of Tulsa, OK.; two nieces, Danielle (Greg) Owen of Skiatook, OK and Lyndsy Monselle of Tulsa, OK; and his red Corvette.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
