MASON CITY — Blanche O. Miner, 88, of Mason City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at her home.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. today, Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave. with Pastor Kathy Graves officiating. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation was held from 4 until 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Blanche O. Miner Memorial Fund in care of the family.

Blanche was born July 16, 1924, in Emmons, Minn., the daughter of Bert and Dora Olson. She was married to Harold B. Miner on July 27, 1943, in New York, N.Y. While Harold was stationed in Bayonne, N.J., Blanche worked in the defense plant making ship cables. They then moved to a farm in Blooming Prairie, Minn., before moving to Mason City in 1960. She worked at Heritage Care Center, North Iowa Medical Center, as a dietary supervisor and lastly as a customer greeter at Wal-Mart until she retired when she turned 82. Blanche loved cooking and baking for her family. She loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas and to visit family in Norway. She enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Mary (David) Johnson, Darlene (Nate) Gunderson, Dean (Vicki) Miner, Earl (Ann) Miner, and Harold F. (Elin) Miner; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold B. Miner; three brothers, and two sisters.
