Frances Elizabeth Miller, 88, of Ventura, Iowa died Friday Nov. 8, 2013 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday Nov. 16, 2013 at the Ventura United Methodist Church, Ventura, Iowa with Dr. Rev. Rhoda Preston officiating. Interment will be in Ventura Cemetery, Ventura. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake and then one hour before the service on Saturday.

Frances was born Feb. 10, 1925 rural Clear Lake, Iowa the daughter of Chris and Petra (Christensen Bach) Sorensen. She attended school in Clear Lake and graduated from Mason City High School in 1942.

Frances married Alvin Miller March 26, 1943 at her father’s home in Clear Lake.
They farmed in the Clear Lake and Ventura area. She managed the fertilizer business while her husband served as a State Representative and State Senator from 1973-1992 and was a Legislative clerk for Alvin from 1985-1992.

Frances enjoyed walking; playing cards and games with her family; plants and especially spending time with her siblings, children and grandchildren.
She was a member of Danish Brotherhood; Lakeside Ladies Aide and Ventura United Methodist Church.

Frances is survived by her three children Marlene (Jerry) Desing, Neenah, Wisconsin, Marcia (Richard) Kuehler, Spencer, Iowa and Danny (Judy) Miller, Ventura, Iowa; nine grandchildren Sherry (Greg) Coley, Melody (Alvaro) Villarreal, Jeffrey Desing, Matt Kuehler, Bill Kuehler, Joe (Kelly) Kuehler, Nate (Amy) Kuehler, Danielle (Nathan) Dykstra and Devyn Miller; thirteen great-grandchildren Gabriel, Samuel, and David Villarreal; Ellery and Greyson Coley; Jesse, Madison and Macy Kuehler; Daniel and Katlyn Moore and Lucas Kuehler; Kale and Maggie Kuehler; two sisters Edith Skene, Ventura, Iowa and Helen Bergman, Britt, Iowa and two brothers Thorvald Sorensen, Mason City, Iowa and Hans (Beth) Sorensen, Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Alvin; an infant daughter; sister Olga Smeby and two brothers Verner Sorensen and Irvin Sorensen.
