BRITT — Shirley M. Michel, 90, of Britt died Friday, May 10, 2013, at the Westview Care Center in Britt.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 18, at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. Fourth St., in Garner, with Val Kozik officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in the National Veterans Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel.
Shirley was born on April 10, 1923, at Shell Rock, Iowa. She attended Shell Rock High School.
On April 18, 1944, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Michel. After Lawrence passed away in 1996, Shirley continued living in Florida until moving to Britt in October of 2011.
Shirley enjoyed playing the organ, puzzle books, jigsaw puzzles and spending time with family and friends. She will be remembered for her witty and bubbly personality and her love for her children and grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her children, David (Nancy) Michel of Britt, Steve (Pat) Michel of Ackley and Susan (Val) Kozik of Blairville, Ga.; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a sister, Lola Gerholdt of Raymond.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence; three sons: Larry, Gary and Alan; a granddaughter, Christine; three sisters; and four brothers.
