Edmund F. Meyer, 96, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at the Franklin Country View Nursing Facility in Hampton, Iowa.
He was born August 10, 1917, in Marion Township, Iowa, the son of Herman and Lena (Spangenberg) Meyer. Edmund attended Marion Center Country School in Franklin County, Iowa. Edmund served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
He was married to Arlene June Waddell on March 16, 1946, in Hampton, Iowa. Edmund was a farmer and enjoyed farming with his family where they all shared farm equipment and farmed together. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton, Iowa. Edmund enjoyed fishing, biking, walking working in his yard and garden.
He is survived by his daughter Marilyn (Terry) Bents of Hampton, daughter Elaine Meyer of Hampton, daughter Lynette (Jay) Gartman of Waukee, granddaughter Amy (Dave) Perez of Hampton, grandson Kevin Gartman of Waukee, great grandchildren James and Nataley Perez, brother Wesley (Mabel) Meyer of Hampton.
Edmund is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother and sister-in-law Walter & Opal Meyer and sister and brother-in-law Ella & George Abbas.
Burial will take place at the Hampton Cemetery in Hampton, Iowa.
