Elsie Hunt, 87, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the mercy Hospice, Johnston, Iowa. Funeral services for Elsie Hunt will be 2:00 pm Wednesday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 313 Lee Lane, Iowa Falls, Iowa. A time of visitation will be from 1:00 pm until service time at the church before services. Burial will be at the Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls. Elsie was compassionate about the need to feed hungry children. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to “Back Pack Buddies”, which funds an Iowa Falls feed the children program. Elsie Ruth Muessigmann was born June 16, 1925 at Geneva, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Esther Marie [Helvig] Muessigmann. She attended country school and the Geneva Community Schools. On June 25, 1944, Elsie was untied in marriage to Verle Willard hunt at the Grant Center Church in Franklin County, Iowa. To this union six children were born: Sheryl, Douglas, Darryl, Teresa, Dave, and Peggy. Elsie was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Iowa Falls; the church circle; and the Mary Lane Club.
Elsie was a very caring, sweet and kind hearted soul. After her mother died at a very early age, Elsie was responsible for all of the household duties to care for her father, brothers and sister. Elsie was a loving wife, mother, home maker and friend. Elsie was a dedicated Mother and Grandmother for 68 years. She enjoyed to cook for her family and insured her children were taught many different life skills. Elsie spent many years gardening and supporting farm duties. Elsie had many interests: traveling, camping, fishing, bowling, sewing, flying with Verle and playing cards/games. Elsie was a savvy card player, especially at the card game 500. During her later years, bingo became the game of choice. Elsie had a lifetime time love of household pets. Most importantly was her sustaining faith in Jesus Christ as her savior. God gained a wonderful angel.
Elsie Hunt is survived by her children: Sheryl [Thomas] Roberts of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Douglas [Marty] Hunt of Loveland Colorado, Darryl [Lisa] Hunt of Ackley, Iowa, Teresa [Gary] Taylor of Granger, Iowa, Dave [Lisa] Hunt of Escondido, California, Peggy [Mike] Baron of San Antonio, Texas; sixteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a sister: Delores [Delbert] Block of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and a sister-in-law: Muriel Muessigmann of Ackley, Iowa.
