Darlene Margaret Kirsch, age 79, of Wesley, Iowa died on May 31, 2013 at the University of Iowa Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday June 4th at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wesley, with Rev. Peter Nguyen and Rev. Ed Girres officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Wesley. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday at the church with a 5 PM Rosary and a 7 PM Scripture Service. The Lentz Funeral Home in Algona is serving the family.
Darlene (Reding) Kirsch was born on November 24, 1933 in St. Joe, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred and Helen (Illg) Reding. Darlene graduated from St. Joe High School in 1952. Darlene was united in marriage to Gerald Kirsch July 14, 1954 in St. Joe, Iowa. After the conclusion of Gerald’s military service in 1956, they moved to Wesley where they began farming. She was a full time home maker and family horticulturalist. One of her most favorite things was driving the four wheel drive tractor helping with fall field work. Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting, quilting, birding, collecting angels big and small, and traveling with Gerald. One of her greatest prides was trying to spoil her 18 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Darlene was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Guild of Wesley.
Darlene is survived by her husband, Gerald; children, Donald (Donna) Kirsch of Wesley, David (Susan) Kirsch of Wesley, Darrel (Dawn) Kirsch of Wesley, Debra (Perry) Schindler of Hinton, Duane (Karen) Kirsch of Wesley, and Dennis (Jennifer) Kirsch of Bode, 17 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosalee Evanson of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Sharon (David) Smith of Surprise, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Helen; brother, Joel; infant son, Dale; and granddaughter
