Larry J. Kinney, 71, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Monday evening, July 29, 2013, at the Mercy Medical Center, Mason City, Iowa. Funeral services for Larry Kinney will be 10:30 am Friday, August 2, 2013, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 313 Lee Lane, Iowa Falls, Iowa. A time of visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, August 1st at Linn’s Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa. Larry James Kinney was born December 15, 1941, at Iowa Falls, Iowa, the son of Frank James and Lorene M. [Neubauer] Kinney. He graduated from Alden High School with the class of 1960. He then attended and graduated from Iowa Barber College and also served in the Iowa Army National Guard. On February 16, 1964, Larry was united in marriage to Marilyn Jean Lamasters at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Iowa Falls. To this union two daughters were born: Tracie and Tammy.
Larry enjoyed camping, hunting, golfing, fishing, playing cards and visiting with his family and many friends. His sense of humor and fun-loving personality will be the subject of many great conversations and stories among those fortunate enough to have been a part of his life. He was known for being full of energy and hardworking, and was always willing to help people and asked for nothing in return. He was a generous man and a great husband, dad, and grandpa. A very important part of his life was spending time with his children and grandchildren and attending their various activities. He will be dearly missed.
Larry was a barber for over 45 years; owning Larry’s Barber Shop in Iowa Falls for 39 years and then working at Clair’s Barber Shop until retiring in May of 2012. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Iowa Falls; serving on various committees, the Memorial Committee, the Finance Committee, and also served as a Trustee.
Larry J. Kinney is survived by his wife: Marilyn Kinney of Iowa Falls; his daughters: Tracie [Larry] Krapfl of Charter Oak, Iowa, Tammy [Steve] Erickson of Robins, Iowa; a granddaughter: Kylee Erickson; grandsons: Sam Erickson, Brandon Krapfl, and Kayl Krapfl; and a sister-in-law: Carol Kinney of Dodge Center, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents: Lorena and Frank Kinney; and a brother: Charles Kinney.
