MASON CITY | Helen Y. Wachsmann, 93, of Mason City, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Heritage Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at Grace United Methodist Church, 200 14th St. N.W., with the Rev. Steve Hansen officiating. Interment will be in Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation was 4-6 p.m. Monday, October 7, 2013, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

Helen was born on November 12, 1919, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Daisy (Farnum) Maish. She married Edward Wachsmann on May 12, 1979. Helen farmed for a good portion of her life and was co-owner of E&R Car Wash in Mason City with her husband from 1972–1983. Helen was active with the Mason City Senior Center, loved playing cards and BINGO and enjoyed many years of traveling, hunting, and fishing with her husband and family.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna Decker of Mason City; son, Roger (Karen) Owens of Tripoli, Iowa; grandchildren, Lisa Owens of Manley Hot Springs, Ark., Shelly Owens of Waterloo, Iowa, Dixie (Mark) Saldivar of Lewisville, Texas, Amy Drewis of Tripoli, Iowa, Collin (Carrie) Owens of Delano, Minn., and Derick (Carrie) Landgrover of McKinney, Texas.; 11 great- grandchildren, Trampes, Heath, Nick, Lindsey, Elise, Nathan, Jennifer, Eva, Kennedy, Lincoln, and Addison; eight great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Cleo (Junette) Maish of Braidwood, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward (Hoolie) in 2003, and two children Earl Henry (“Sonny”) Owens Jr. and Larry Lee Owens.
