CHARLES CITY — Susan Vining, 69, of Charles City, formerly of Forest City, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at her home.
Funeral services for Susan Vining will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Hauser Funeral Home. Sister Diana Blong of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and an hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Susan Mary Jones Vining was born April 5, 1944, in Charles City, the daughter of Donald and Catherine (Dickhoff) Jones. She attended school at Nashua and later received her GED. Susan married Dennis Usher and to this union four children were born. They later divorced. In 1983 Susan married the joy of her life Bill Vining and they made their home in Charles City. Over the years Susan worked at Salsbury Laboratories and then dedicated her life to helping others at the Chautauqua Guest Homes, Comprehensive Systems and Mosaic (formerly Krysilis) at Forest City. Susan enjoyed bowling, camping, fishing on the Mississippi and going to family reunions.
Living family members include four children, Steve (Karen) Usher of Forest City, Lisa Monsen of Charles City, Brad (Camille) Usher of Belmond and Troy (Sue) Usher of Nashua; 21 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dick (Diane) Jones of Waterloo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill on Feb. 24, 1992; granddaughter, Kristie Usher; and sister, Kay Westervelt.
