Carolyn Therese (Paulsen) Hansen, age 70, of Breezy Point, MN, formerly of Algona, died Saturday, May 11, 2013 at St Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona, with Rev. Ed Girres and Rev. John Thomas celebrating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 – 8 pm Friday at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona, with a 5 pm Rosary and a 7:30 Scripture Service.
Carolyn Therese Paulsen, the daughter of Milton and Virginia (King) Paulsen, was born April 29, 1943 in Bancroft, IA. She was the oldest of three children who included her brothers; Milton Jr. and James. She attended and graduated from Lakota High School. Carolyn received her post high school education from the Omaha School of Business in Omaha, NE. On August 21, 1967, Carolyn was united in marriage with Lynn Hansen at St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church in Algona. The couple’s union was blessed with two children; Kara and Jeff. Carolyn was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. Upon retirement, she and Lynn settled in the Breezy Point area of Minnesota where they enjoyed the lakes and the woods. Carolyn enjoyed fishing, crocheting and new technology. Her iPhone was always with her and she loved staying in contact with her family and friends. Carolyn was a member of St. Alice Church in Pequot Lakes, MN. Her biggest joy came from her family, especially her grandchildren; Lauren, Ethan, Ashley and Jacob.
Those left to cherish Carolyn’s memory include her husband of 46 years Lynn Hansen of Breezy Point, MN; her daughter Kara (Paul) Parcher of Rockford, IA; son Jeff (Michelle) Hansen of Elk River, MN; grandchildren Lauren and Ethan Parcher, Ashley and Jacob Hansen; brother’s Milt (Elaine) Paulsen Jr. of Albert Lea, MN and James Paulsen of Titonka, IA; brother -in-law Dirk (Diana) Hansen of Milford, IA; sister-in-law Vicki Steil of Decorah, IA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Virginia Paulsen and her in-laws, Wade and Catherine Hansen.
