Ann Louise Haag was born July 9, 1929, on the family farm near Algona, daughter of James A. and Pauline (Bode) Coady. She grew up southwest of Bancroft graduating from St. John~s Catholic High School in 1947. Ann was married to Melbourne Haag on June 23, 1952, at St. John~s Catholic Church in Bancroft.
Ann and Mel farmed northwest of Ledyard until 1973, when they moved to their current homestead south of Ledyard. Ann~s greatest joy was her children and her grandchildren. She was very passionate about being at her grandchildren~s activities. She enjoyed cooking and was famous for her rhubarb jam. Ann also enjoyed doing needlepoint, sewing, and she loved visiting with people. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Sacred Heart Rosary Society.
Ann L. Haag died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at her home at the age of 83.
She is survived by her husband Mel of rural Swea City; her three children, Linda (Lloyd) Eichenberger of Ledyard, Tom (Patti) Haag of Ledyard, and Mary Alice (Quinn) Smith of Milan, NM; a son-in-law, Jeff Stillman of Emmetsburg; eight grandchildren, Melanie (Keith) Doyle of Phoenix, AZ, Brad (Jenny) Eichenberger of Bancroft, Brian (Jennifer) Stillman of Austin, TX, Kevin Stillman of St. Louis, MO, Courtney Haag of Des Moines, Collete Haag of Ledyard, Jade Smith and René Smith, both of Milan, NM; 5 great-grandchildren, Hannah and Macey Doyle, Parker Eichenberger, and Austin and Elena Stillman; and four step-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Fr. John Coady of Tucson, AZ; two sisters, Mary (Bob) Koll of San Diego, CA, and Betty (Ron) Hamm of Bondurant; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Coady of Bancroft; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Eileen Stillman; a daughter Rosemary in infancy; and a brother, Jim Coady.
