Virginia Catherine Guerdet was born June 4, 1947, in Algona, daughter of John and Mary (Mescher) Gisch. She grew up in Algona graduating from Garrigan High School in 1965.

In the fall of 1965, Virginia was married to Dennis Guerdet at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. They raised their family on a farm southwest of Swea City where she enjoyed being involved in all aspects of farming. She moved into Swea City in 1996 and was employed at the North Kossuth School as a teacher~s aide. Virginia then moved to Arizona for several years and made many friends while living there. She then moved back to Swea City to be near her family and be very involved in her grandchildren~s lives.

Virginia loved her grandchildren and going to all their activities. She was very outgoing, kind hearted and enjoyed helping people. She was a very prayerful and kindhearted person. She was a member of St. Mary~s in Armstrong then later Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ledyard. She taught CCD classes for over 30 years even while in Arizona. She made a great difference in many kids~ lives teaching confirmation class.
Virginia C. Guerdet died Tuesday, April 23, 2012 at Valley View Care Center in Armstrong at the age of 65. She had been a resident there since December, 2012.

She is survived by her children, David Guerdet and his wife Jana and their children Jordan, Kirsten and Preston of Armstrong, Angie Kollasch and her husband Randy and their children Nikki, Ben, Brandon, and Miranda of Swea City; Anthony Guerdet and his fiancé Kelly of Chicago, IL; and her son, Daniel (deceased), and his children Dalton, Marissa, and Olivia Guerdet of Bancroft; one sister, Rosemary Wibe and her husband John of Marcus; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Gisch; her son, Daniel on June 28, 2012; and her sister, Madonna Gisch July 2012.
