MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Gary Lee Jones, 71, of Northeast Minneapolis, died peacefully May 30, 2014.
He graduated in 1961 from Edison High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy. Gary worked at 3M, Control Data, and Forward Technology, and retired in 2000. Gary and Meredith (Starbuck) were married Feb. 26, 1972, at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church, Minneapolis.
Gary enjoyed coordinating and heading up the church mini-bus. He loved going to their cabin at Ely Island, Lake Vermilion. Gary belonged to New Brighton Sportsman’s Club and Northeast Kiwanis.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Meredith; son, Daniel (Susan); daughter, Angela; brother, Douglas (Linda); sister, Carol (Kirk) Otto; grandchildren, Alayna, Trevor and Reilly Jones.
Preceded in death by parents in 1990, Ronald & Thelma Jones.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church, 1701 St. Anthony Pkway, Minneapolis.
Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Washburn-McReavy Northeast Chapel, 29th and Johnson St. N.E., Minneapolis.
