HAMPTON | Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, at 10:30 a.m. at the Hampton United Methodist Church in Hampton, Iowa.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 1, from 4-7 p.m. at Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton. Burial will take place at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City. Pastor Corby Johnson will be officiating.

Clarabelle “Belle” Branan, 89, of Hampton, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

She was born May 21, 1925, to Melvin Lowell and Ethel Grace (Skinner) Beal. Belle attended Geneva schools until her mother died, and then she moved to Des Moines to live with her brother and graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines.

After graduation she attended A.I.B. Business College in Des Moines.

She was united in marriage to Wayne R. Branan on June 29, 1946, in Fort Dodge. Wayne passed away on Oct. 16, 1985.

Belle worked at Reminder Printing Co. and then at Franklin General Hospital as ward supervisor in 1981.

She and Wayne moved to Clear Lake when Wayne retired, and she worked for a short time at L&J Mobile Home Repair.

She was a member of Hampton United Methodist Church in Hampton. She enjoyed traveling, camping, reading, working crossword puzzles and painting.

Throughout the years, she researched both sides of the family and compiled the information into a very interesting and detailed memoir.

Belle is survived by her son Ron and Julie Branan of Belton, Mo., son Richard and Judy Branan of Mason City, daughter Shirley and Jim Mejia of Hampton; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers and sisters: Floy, Adelbert, Laura, Lee, Lois, June, Cyrus, Richard, and Nola.
