CLEAR LAKE | Mary Lou Holstad, 83, of Clear Lake, died Wednesday (June 25, 2014) at the Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday (June 28, 2014) at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with Pastor Kirk Wilkie officiating.

Inurnment will follow in the Sion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Lake Mills.

Mary Lou’s family will greet relatives and friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday (June 27, 2014) at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake.

Should friends desire, memorials may be left in Mary Lou’s name to Hospice of North Iowa.

Mary Lou was born June 2, 1931, in Hamlin, Iowa, the youngest of the three children of Fred and Freda (Ruhs) Rabe. She attended school in Audubon, and college at UNI where she graduated with a teaching degree in 1951.

She married Orin Holstad February 1, 1953, in Webb, Iowa. In 1960 they moved to Clear Lake. She taught elementary school in Hanlontown for 30 years.

Mary Lou is survived by her two children, Connie (Ken) Kvam of Buffalo, MN, and David (Marlene) Holstad of Clear Lake, IA; one grandson, Patrick Holstad; one brother, Fred (Barbara) Rabe of Audubon; one sister, Josephine Jensen of Loveland, CO; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
