BELMOND | Audrey J. Borcherding, age 74, of Belmond passed away Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, at the Belmond Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services for Audrey J. Borcherding will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Latimer. Pastor Travis Berg will officiate. Burial will take place in the St Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Latimer.
Visitation for Audrey J. Borcherding will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, at Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luick’s Lane South in Belmond, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
The family prefers memorials be made in Audrey Borcherding’s name to the Lutheran Hour Ministries, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Schools or Belmond-Klemme Scholarship Funds I and II.
Audrey Joan, the daughter of Harley Herbert Albert Buegler and Marjorie Jean (Butler) Buegler, was born April 4, 1940, in Blue Earth, Minnesota. She attended a country school her first and second year, one mile north of the farm. She then began attending school in Delavan, Minnesota, where Audrey graduated from Delavan High School in 1957.
Audrey was baptized and confirmed at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Emerald Township, in Blue Earth, Minnesota. Audrey attended Mankato State College where she met James Lester Borcherding of Latimer. They married Sept. 6, 1959, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Emerald Township, in Blue Earth. Audrey was baptized, confirmed and married by the same minister, the Rev. W.E. Heidorn, in the same church.
Audrey worked at Prudential Insurance Co. in Mankato until 1960. In 1964, they moved to Latimer and she worked at the Hampton State Bank in Hampton. In 1969, they moved to Belmond. Audrey worked as the business manager of the Belmond Community Schools, which later consolidated to the Belmond-Klemme Community Schools. She retired in 1999. After retirement, Audrey worked part time for a few years in the office at Printing Services.
Audrey is survived by her husband of 55 years, James. They were blessed with two daughters, Valerie (Jeffrey) Bovee of New Ulm, Minnesota, and Vonda (Alan) Junck of Ames. They were also blessed with six grandchildren, Allison, Jessica and Michael Bovee and Taylor, Rachel and Scott Junck; brother, the Rev. David (Susan) Buegler of Avon, Ohio; and sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Pralle of Hampton; and numerous other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
