Ronald Hansen passed away peacefully at Hospice of North Iowa on September 16 after a brief illness.
Ron was born in Iowa Falls on November 24, 1937. He grew up in Alexander surrounded by an extended family.
He graduated from Belmond High School in 1955. He attended Carleton College before majoring in bridge and billiards at the University of Iowa, where he also earned a law degree.
Ron spent most of his professional career as Executive Vice President and Trust Officer at Manufacturer’s Bank and Trust Company in Forest City (1969-1998). Ron was a life-long Iowa Hawkeye fan, and loved dogs, golfing, dining out, and the movie Arthur.
He is preceded in death by his parents Harry Clifford and Margaret Hall Hansen, and a daughter, Linda.
He is survived by Margaret, his wife of 22 years, his children Kim Hale and Steve Hansen of Golden, CO, and Michael Hansen (Renee) of Charlotte, NC, his sisters Sheila and Karen, and his grandchildren Zachary Tannahill, Carter Hale, and Anna and Caroline Hansen.
Ron’s family will celebrate his life at the Clear Lake Art Center on Saturday, September 20, from 3–5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Hospice of North Iowa or a favored humane society.
