Cory Lee Briggs was born December 7, 1979, in Algona, son of Terry and Vicki (Haase) Briggs. He grew up in Burt graduating from Sentral High School in 1998, and then from Iowa Lakes College in Emmetsburg with a construction degree.
Cory worked at Aluma in Bancroft for the past 11 years and he was a “damn good welder”. He loved being a dad and spending time with his children, Tamara, and his family. He was a heavy metal rocker always having the music blaring as loud as possible. Cory enjoyed fishing, working, and being with his friends.
Cory L. Briggs died unexpectedly Sunday, September 14, 2014 at the age of 34.
He is survived by his children, Carter Briggs of Estherville, Haley and Addie Briggs of Algona, and Dominic Jacobsen of Algona; his fiancé Tamara Sherman of Algona; his parents, Terry and Vicki Briggs of Burt; a sister, Lindsay (Jordan) Storevik of Sioux Falls, SD; a brother, Wade (Devyn) Briggs of Bancroft; his maternal grandparents, Melvin and Donna Haase of Burt; a niece and nephew, Jon Lee and Jade Lea Storevik; and several other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Zoe Lynn Briggs, a brother Keith Briggs; his paternal grandparents, Dean and Ann Briggs; and an uncle Larry Briggs.
