Dorothy Mae Porter, 96, formerly of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014 in St. Robert, MO. Memorial services will be 11:00 am Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls. Private family burial will be at the Northlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa Falls. Dorothy Mae Eaton was born on April 13, 1918 in Park Rapids, MN, the daughter of Stephen and Gladys (Charles) Eaton. She grew up in the Park Rapids area during her younger years and then graduated high school in Duncombe, Iowa. On August 26, 1937 Dorothy was united in marriage to Paul O. Porter at Duncombe, Iowa.

Dorothy worked for the Iowa Falls Sewing Machine Company for over twenty years where she managed the Bridal Department. Over that time period she served as Director and Coordinator for the company’s style shows. During her life she remained extremely involved in the community, most notably being one of the first women to be elected to the Iowa Falls School Board. During her time on the school board she was honored to serve as President of the Board for several terms. She was active with the Women’s Circle at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls as well as Bible Study Group. Dorothy also enjoyed visiting with friends at Coffee Club.

Dorothy Mae Porter is survived by her son Gary (Jeanie) Porter of St. Robert, MO; grandson Justin Porter of St. Robert, MO; two granddaughters: Dawn Townsend of Grapevine, TX and Stephanie (Dylan) Elliott of Carthage, MO and four great grandchildren: Jonathan Morales, Joshua Morales, Noah Elliott and Kaden Elliott.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, a son John Paul Porter and a daughter Mary Pat Porter.
