James “Jim” Keith Meinders, 70, of Allison, Iowa, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014, at his home in Allison.

He was born on February 9, 1944, in Aplington, Iowa, to Kuno and Henrietta (Miller) Meinders. Jim graduated from Aplington High School and from Waterloo Barber College.

He was married to Linda Hemmen on April 10, 1964, in Aplington, she preceded him in death; he then married Sandi Johnson Kluiter on January 17, 1986, in Allison.

Jim was a barber for fifty-two years. He was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church in Allison, where he was an elder, a deacon and a custodian. Jim was a New York Yankees and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He enjoyed taking special care of his lawn and loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Jim took pride in giving great haircuts, but also enjoyed visiting and talking with people. His profession formed more friendships than he could account for.

Jim is survived by his wife Sandi Meinders of Allison, son Troy Meinders of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, daughter Tammy Montero of Gilbert, Arizona, daughter Tricia (Abe) Najera of South Elgin, Illinois, son Jon (Meredith) Kluiter of Overland Park, Kansas, daughter Sara (Bob) Heacock of Schwenksville, Pennsylvania, son-in-law Mark Beltz of Cedar Rapids, grandchildren Ashley McMullin, Armando and Santiago Montero, Claudia, Alex and Bella Najera, Sophie Beltz, Lauren and Abigail Kluiter, Elsa, Grady and Lily Heacock, sister Myrna Nath of Waterloo, mother-in-law Swanetta Hemmen of Aplington and father-in-law John Johnson of Cedar Falls.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Linda Meinders, daughter Tressa Meinders, daughter Tara Beltz, parents Kuno and Henrietta Meinders, father-in-law William Hemmen and mother-in-law VerJean Johnson.

Burial will take place in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Aplington.
