Dorothy Jean Rinehart, age 96 of Prairie City, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014 at Norris-Muse Hospice Unit in Mason City. Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014, at 5:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends following the service at a dinner in the church fellowship hall. Private family burial will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Teen Challenge of the Midlands in Colfax or the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The daughter of George and Flossie (McKinney) Brockett, Jean was born on December 26, 1917, in Runnells. She graduated from East High School and the American Institute of Business. She was united in marriage to Loren “Chase” Rinehart. Jean was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, where she was known as the “flower lady” at the church.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Elaine Olson of Pleasant Hill, and her children, Brent (Amy) Olson of Missouri Valley, Kim (Siemo) Olson of Chicago, Julie (Troy) Kuecker of Prairie City; a daughter-in-law, Betty Rinehart of Colorado and her children, Linda (Kevin) Hampton of Colorado, Joey (Scott) Rinehart-Lamborn of Colorado, and Luwanda (Russell) Koehler also of Colorado; 11 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and a brother, Jerry (Barbara) Brockett of Dallas, Texas. Preceding Jean in death were her parents, husband in 1987, and a son Buck Rinehart.
