Leola “Lee” Miller, 87, of Floyd, died Saturday, August 30, 2014, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.
Funeral services for Lee Miller will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd. Pastor Martha Bennett will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery at Floyd.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and at the church on Wednesday an hour prior to the service.
Leola Mae Krominga Miller was born March 25, 1927, at Swea City, the daughter of Reinder and Helen (Plaisier) Krominga. She graduated in 1945 from Titonka High School. On June 18, 1945, she was united in marriage to Glen Miller at Norfolk, Va. They lived in Titonka where they operated the Tyke Electric Shop from 1945 to 1966 at which time they moved to Floyd where Lee held the position of City Clerk from September 1971 to January of 1988. Lee~s interest in flowers was reflected in her flower gardening, growing violets and their raising gladioli for wholesale. For 14 years they followed a craft circuit with their wood products. They also looked forward to the annual USS Augusta Navy Ship Reunions which they attended for 18 years, traveling throughout the United States. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, served on the Community Center Board and was secretary treasurer of the 60 Plus Card Club.
Living family members include two daughters, Celine (Dennis) Schmidt of Suffolk, Va. and Charlene Glore of Tipton, Mo.; four grandchildren, Aaron (Aileen) Schmidt, Mark Schmidt, Amy Schmidt and Mitchel Kado; six great grandchildren; great great grandson; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glen on July 26, 2003: brother, Raymond Krominga; and son-in-law, Larry Glore.
